This short audiobook is like a crash course on one of the pivotal moments in our nation's history...Bill O'Reilly, of The O'Reilly Factor , is an animated reader, as you might expect., "In this fast-paced, enthralling narrative that unfolds more like a true-crime thriller than scholarly analysis, O'Reilly and Dugard offer an account of the events that led up to, surrounded, and unfolded in the aftermath of Lincoln's assassination...O'Reilly's sonorous tone and flair for the dramatic add tremendously to the work's theatrical value. Recommended for O'Reilly devotees," Library Journal , starred review "This short audiobook is like a crash course on one of the pivotal moments in our nation's history...I especially enjoyed the details that focused on the personalities of Lincoln, his wife, Booth, Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee and other key figures in this story...Bill O'Reilly, of The O'Reilly Factor , is an animated reader, as you might expect." The Fort Worth Star-Telegram "As should be expected from a pro broadcaster, O'Reilly's delivery is right on the money" The State Journal-Register "As a history major, I wish my required reading had been as well written as this truly vivid and emotionally engaging account of Lincoln's assassination. And as a former combat infantry officer, I found myself running for cover at the Civil War battle scenes. This is the story of an American tragedy that changed the course of history. If you think you know this story, you don't until you've read Killing Lincoln . Add historian to Bill O'Reilly's already impressive resume."Nelson DeMille, author of The Lion and The Gold Coast " Killing Lincoln is a must read historical thriller. Bill O'Reilly recounts the dramatic events of the spring of 1865 with such exhilarating immediacy that you will feel like you are walking the streets of Washington, DC, on the night that John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln. This is a hugely entertaining, heart-stopping read."Vince Flynn, author of American Assassin "If Grisham wrote a novel about April 1865...it might well read like Killing Lincoln ."Peter J. Boyer, Newsweek "[Killing Lincoln] delivers a taut, action-packed narrative with cliff-hangers aplenty..."-- The Christian Science Monitor "[Killing Lincoln] is nonfiction, albeit told in white-knuckled, John Grisham-like style."-- New York Post, "Newsman O'Reilly...gives us a great dramatic reading. This wan't just about the assassination.

very good, lots of detailed information about Lincoln, Grant and other aspects of the Civil War. Lots of detail on not only Lincoln but also the war, so you gain knowledge of what was going on around Lincoln and the weight he bore making decisions. This wan't just about the assassination. Also, the book was well read by O'Reilly.

  • Bravo Zulu!

What an excellent book. Well done Bill and Martin. I bought the audio and having Bill actually read it was great. I think every author should read the audio version. I couldn't stop listening. I wanted to listen chapter after chapter, but had to stop to do other things. Listened to it in three days and it was well layed out, pre-assassination and closing of the war, events leading to the assassination and the assassination, post-assassination, search and capture of Boothe. The day by day, hour by hour telling of events was superb. I wish the book was longer I liked it so much. Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard you really outdid yourselves.

  • Great Book!

this was given to two people as something to listen to on a road trip, they reported that in addition to passing the time, they really enjoyed it and found it interesting, informational, riviting and well put together. One then went home and looked through a road atlas to see all the towns mentioned in the book to get a feel for the "lay of the land" that were mentioned in the book. This was someone who normally makes fun of "Bill O'Reilly" while the other "can't stand" Bill O'Reilly (the latter completely biased without having ever watched an entire hour of his show!) and both have since begun watching his show as they no longer think he is some looney-tune. Basically if you can't stand O'Reilly it is your loss, there is a reason why this is a best seller! Based on their reviews I am ...

  • Great history!

I got this book as an audio book. which I very much enjoy. It was read by Bill O'Reilly, himself. He did a very good job, and I only had one issue with it. He spoke many times of the cavalry, which he mispronounced as Calvary, which has a very different meaning, of course. If you can overlook this one error, which was repeated very many times, you will greatly enjoy the experience.

  • Killing Lincoln was a reading experience.

I found this book to be very good, interesting and keep my attention from the start to the end. I am the grandson of Emanuel Hertz who was a well known historian on Lincoln, he wrote many books and I feel this one would have made him very impressed with the author. Thank you for this book I give it 5 *****'s Arthur H. Brown
