  • Great server case.

This is a great rackmount case, especially if not using a lot of 2.5" or 3.5" drives (though there's plenty of space for those). In my case, everything is PCIe or M.2 SSD, so I did not need the drive space or hot swap bays, etc. I replaced the 5.25" bays with fan cages sold for the case to keep the PCIe SSDs a little cooler. There are very few rackmount cases with USB 3 ports, this being one of only 3 I could find (one other being a different version of this case, the other also Silverstone). The front and rear of the case are screwed on, so it can be pretty much fully torn down without removing rivets, which is nice. Still making some modifications before moving my server into it, but, so far, it's sturdy, well built, good size, and easy to work with.

  • Short-depth, but plenty of options

This 4U chassis makes for a nice short-depth NAS if you're trying to keep things quiet. The tolerances on the drive bays aren't too great, so you'll have to force some parts into place when reassembling. For the 5.25" drive bays, be aware that there is very little room between the end of the bays and the edge of an mATX motherboard. If you're planning on using 5.25" to 3.5" hot-swap bays, they will likely overhang the motherboard and potentially block off components, such as the 24 pin power or SATA ports. I recommend using an ITX board for this use case. Using the 5.25" bays requires removing them from the chassis. This also includes the 2.5" bay at the bottom. You can only access the sides of the middle 3.5" bay when the 5.25" bays are removed. You need to access the sides to mount in ...
