Amazing clarity, sharpnes and depth of image. Easily rivals a pro lens !!

Excellent value for money as I bought this as an used lens. Was very impressed with the condition of the lens and could not tell that it had been used. Being a prime lens it has a 'fixed' view with the lens moving in and out to provide the auto focus function. The only one downside is that it can be a bit noisy, but it is fairly quick to focus in good to medium light conditions. In low light conditions it does struggle to auto focus but this can be easily overcome by manually focussing on your subject. Excellent sharpness and clarity of image with no distortion or vignetting at the edges. Amazing depth of images with those dreamy like portraits with blurred backgrounds and bokeh. Having used zoom lenses for ages I am now having to get used to moving closer or away from the subject again, ...

  • Very light weight macro lens

Although a macro lens, the light weight and small size of this lens goes well with the smaller E4xx Olympus DSLRs and I would expect it to also work well with micro four thirds, with a suitable adapter. I was surprised at how light this lens actually is. At F3.5 on a four thirds system it has a bit too great a depth of field to make it ideal as a portrait lens, but this disadvantage turns into an advantage when used in macro mode. I am insufficiently experienced to critically evaluate this lens, but it seems to me to do all that I expected it to do. Yes, I would chose it again.

  • A very versatile and useful lens for closeups AND general use (e.g. portraits)

This is a very simple and versatile lens (its design reminds me of a pinhole camera) but because of that it is great for close ups (eg flowers, insects) providing the subject isn't moving too much and you must take into account that it needs enough light but has an aperture no wider than f3.5. Also you can take general pictures too of people, even landscapes. It isn't a zoom but that's not problem. I have many other Zuiko lenses I can turn to if needed..... It seems sharp and provides very good results on an Olympus e-620 camera which has a 12.3mp sensor. In 2017 I paid just over £50 for my Zuiko 35mm f3.5 (it had been very lightly used, like new basically). Well worth it at that price. I am a big fan of the Olympus four thirds system (I think the slight size benefits of the micro four ...

  • Fantastic lens

I never thought that I would be taking photographs which looked indistinguishable from pro photos until I purchased this lens. It gives pin sharp images and seems in its element the closer it gets to its subject. The bokeh is outstanding and there is little distortion around the fringes. My one gripe is that it hunts for too long and is obstinate and fussy in low light. But when it gets it right you will be amazed at the value for money you are getting.
