About this product

Product Information

One day I was 12 years old and broke. Then Grandma gave me Grandpa's old riding lawnmower. I set out to mow some lawns. More people wanted me to mow their lawns. And more and more. . . . One client was Arnold the stockbroker, who offered to teach me about "the beauty of capitalism. Supply and Demand. Diversify labor. Distribute the wealth." "Wealth?" I said. "It's groovy, man," said Arnold. If I'd known what was coming, I might have climbed on my mower and putted all the way home to hide in my room. But the lawn business grew and grew. So did my profits, which Arnold invested in many things. And one of them was Joey Pow the prizefighter. That's when my 12th summer got really interesting.

Book arrived on time. The wrong dust jacket was on the book, but the seller was very nice and immediately offered return or partial credit. Very easy to work with this seller. $10 shipping for a hardback seemed a little pricey although it’s been a while since I’ve mailed a book. Thanks for a great transaction.

The book showed wear, but nothing that I wouldn't have done myself over the course of reading it. It just shows that it was good enough that someone else took a lot of time with it because of it's message. I'm pleased. Ordinarily I would have protested the shipping, but the sellers deducted the cost from the book's value, so I figured it all worked out and I have a good bible study book for show for it all. Thanks

  • Different boy sets up lawn moving business with another young man. They love each other and have fun learning about business and the stock market.

I wanted my 11 year old daughter to read some controversial books this summer. I am aware that this one is up there on the banning list. I told her if it got too graphic or uncomfortable she could put it down. Well she NEVER did. She loved the book and says it has value for all kids. That makes this English teacher very happy. Score again for Gary Paulson and boo hiss for the book banners. :)
