In a light plastic post bag. The external light cardboard packaging was crushed on one end. The unit underneath was in a sealed clear plastic in a presentation box showing the dial. The tach needle was on about 5000rpm when it arrived. I amused a coil, battery charger ,battery setup to test tach , seems to be O.K. correct rpms from 1 to 8 cylinders. I found this tach type will work on the negative terminal coil of a Ducati 2004 Ss1000DS , ok. It won't work on a Harley Davidson single fire coil.
