I remember when things were built to last a long time and were heavy duty. These, will work ok for a while even though they are a 'light duty' solution to walking on slippery ice. Closer to sheet metal than to metal 'plate'. Rubber band for holding on your boots is too short (I assume to save 1c in manufacturing) and needs a rope extension to work properly. These will get you by till the rubber band brakes.

These are easy to put on & take off, and the design reaches through the snow to hidden ice. The tight rubber causes them to stay put, although it may need to be lengthened with a small loop of rope. I fasten them right in front of my heel and have used them for years.

I bought these for my husband he wears a size 16 boot, can never find anything large enough to fit his boots, These are great, best for walking on ice and not falling. Easy on, and easy off. You can even drive with them.

Great to keep in your car or home for those needed short walks to the mail box or taking the garbage out in Winter, not for hiking the Appalachian trail but will prevent breaking your leg or hip on ice covered conditions on normal daily use, cheaper than the emergency room.
