No Better 800 Grit waterstone--clearly among the best!
Excellent lowest grit "sharpening" stone for truly dull blades, with 1000 being the regular maintenance starting stone. I use the same series and brand through 3000.

These are wonderful stones, very dense and durable stones with amazing feeling and feedback , I have the 400 and the 800 Chosera models, of various stones i have i use these two the most. Everyone i have shared experiences with , agree the scratch pattern for the 800 is very similar to other brands 1K stones. The extra cutting speed with the 800 models is wonderful , great balance of cutting vs nice scratch pattern. I recommend the 400 and 800 Chosera/Professional models the most for anyone that asks me. I've noticed online people question the price tag for these, genuinely really not that bad considering they will last a VERY long time, many years even with regular use. One of my favorite under rated features is the super easy cleanup , removing buildup with almost no effort , wiping ... These are wonderful stones, very dense and durable stones with amazing feeling and feedback , I have the 400 and the 800 Chosera models, of various stones i have i use these two the most. One of my favorite under rated features is the super easy cleanup , removing buildup with almost no effort , wiping down with some water washes away most of it , combined with a quick treatment with a rust eraser , ready for storage in 60 seconds. The only issue I've heard from others is you have super hard, really advanced steels mostly with EDC knives, like 66-67 HRC kind of stuff, you might have some burnishing, it's pretty easy to sort that out, using the included Nagura stone. I have never had this issue , even with R2/ SG2 , Molybdenum stainless steel and anything else i have sharpened. i have been told only happens with 66 or 67 HRC super steels. I do have a Naniwa DX Gouken Kurouto 1000 soaking stone , i dont really require it i guess, but its just a "nice to have" type of thing and good excuse to have a soaking stone which i enjoy sometimes. The diamond plate i use for leveling my stones is also a nice to have type of thing but not really " required" . I follow the recommendations from Naniwa and I keep all my stones in my home office since it has the least amount of sunlight and most consistent ambient temperature. I will be storing my stones in a Japanese toolbox but currently I store all of my stones vertically lined up in a repurposed bamboo dish drying rack , which saves on storage space , helps prevent accidental damage and allows them to dry.

The best 800grit available
This is a fast sharpening, slow wearing stone with a great feel when using. There is a reason Naniwa Chosera's are mentioned frequently throughout the knife collecting and knife sharpening people through out the world

great whetstone easy to clean will last forever
If your knifes edge isn't damaged you can sharpen and finish strop with this stone. If you want to polish your edge you would need a finer grit

An excellent whetstone!
This is my go-to stone when sharpening my knives. Great tactile feedback and quickly creates a burr. Nothing negative to say about it, but can be a bit pricey depending on your budget.
