I didn't even know things like this existed and let my caps get dirty, not wanting to wash them and have shrinkage and throw them out. One place suggested I use an inflated balloon to put the wet cap on to dry, but that seemed a little sketchy. Then someone told me about these things and I found 'em here on eBay -- lots of choices. I tried using this one in the dishwasher but it was just OK. Instead, the way I use them -- and am very happy about -- is simply to wash the cap in the washer, don't put it in the dryer, but instead fit it over the top of the Ball Cap Buddy -- not on the inner part where you would put it in if you were putting it in the dishwasher -- but on the top of it all, which provides a larger surface area to keep the hat in shape so that there is no danger of any shrinkage. It's worked perfectly that way and I am very happy. Price point is perfect.Read full review

I have been looking into buying one of these cleaners for quite awhile now and this one I found for a good price. It does hold your hat in-shape during a wash, but only if your hat fits the mold of the plastic which is quite large. I have a small head and my fitted hats don't really fit around the shape holder very well. Because of that, my hats get wrinkled by creeping up on the mold. The other issue is quality. The plastic feels really weak and doesn't give me much confidence in this product's longevity.

All I have to say is this must be a joke. Filled my large capacity washing machine with water on a light/delicates cycle put the hat in the device in as required and by itself in the washing machine and it keeps falling apart/ un snapping every one or two rotations. Device Will not stay together in a washing machine. It may work with a dishwashing machine but I do not have access to them. In my opinion this device should not claim to be able to be used with a washing machine at all. Flimsy material snaps do not stay together and all around waste of material in my opinion. I would not recommend this item to anyone unless you have a dishwasher. Even then I still have my doubts. Stick to hand washing.

When I checked the hats the one that arrived broken, that hat had slipped completely out of the device. The other one that wasn't broken the hat slipped sideways and bunched up. This may a great little device in a dish washer but my opinion is that it's not too great in a washer. Seller was quick to ship, hat buddy was probably busted on shipping not sellers fault. Not enough invested to make it worth my time sending back. If you have a dish washer (I don't) this might work for you, price is cheap so you don't lose much.

Protects the hats perfectly and simple to use. Made my throwaway hat look brand new. Used spray and wash on the hat and ran it in the top rack of the dishwasher with dish soap pod. Excellent purchase.

I have used this to wash my golf caps. I live in Texas and play in hot, humid conditions. My caps may 2-3 rounds due to sweat stains. I am now able to wash them and keep their shape. This is GREAT!

It works great in the dishwasher. Cleaned my cap very well, except where there were stains, which I should have pretreated. The heated dry cycle did not dry the cap so I put it on top of one of my central heating vents. Although it says you can use it in a top loading clothes washer common sense would tell you it would get destroyed by the agitator, as some have reported on reviews from other sellers.

I bought it to help keep the shape while coating it with a light starch. It needs a couple more ribs in order to be good for that because it allows to much sag in places where once the starch dries would show. It is a bare minimum design that probably works well for washing, just not forming.

If you have a washing machine with an agitator, that middle part that spins AND goes up and down, don't bother using this in it. It only works for old Fred Flintstone dinosaur washers that don't go up and down. It will work fine on top rack dishwashers and keeps the shape well. The picture of the washer is should have a huge asterisk next to it.

On the directions they want you to clean your hats in the dishwasher. I would of never thought this. If you do put it in the regular washer it comes apart at the hinge. So I just put some zip ties on the end so it doesn't come apart. I think it works well if you do this.
