Got this on several recommendations...excellent vocal mic for female vocal. Slightly hyped top end, but manageable and even useful. Freind has put his Neumann up in the locker and uses this for vocals, along with a Lewitt, depending on the source. When you price this vs a Neumann, incredible value. I run this, an MXL V67 (works great on male and baritone voices) and an Advanced Audio CM47FET CE for a pretty good range of vocal mic colors, and all three of them still less expensive together than the Neumann. Looks like a million bucks too...haven't even tried it on other sources yet, but a really great value, and I believe the newer ones come with 6072 tubes standard. Tube rolled an old Sylvania 6072 and ended up going back to the Russian made one that came with the mic.
I guess some of the quality the CV-12 has, comes from the Russian built Valve. The Mic is clear bright but still has some warmth. Every singer has their own sound like guitarists and this MIC gives a Studio another option that is well worth having and very affordable.

It’s amazing that you can buy a multi pattern tube microphone that sounds this good for under $500.

The Avantone cv12 has a very 3-dimensional type clarity. A lot of smooth body with a silky high end. Very good on vocals. Very affordable.

Awesome all the way around. This mic is a fantastic addition to my mic locker. It definitely competes with some of my more expensive top shelf microphones. The Avantone CV-12 even feels expensive in your hands. I love it, and plan to use it a lot. Having the multiple polarity options is a real plus as well. This mic was worth every penny.
