A great game for Star Wars fans and an above average expierence for any MMO player. Although this game has not reached its potential yet (as updates are coming out on a 6 week basis)it is still a very fun game with plenty to offer thru questing, PvP, operations/raids, crafting and some great guilds to make it offer something for everyone. The Collector's Edition ( original retail $150 )includes goodies for hardcore fans but little worthwile to casual players. The statue of Malgus is cool and the Journal has some nice backstory but ingame the CE offers little except one extra vendor, however when FreeToPlay comes out later this fall/winter, Collectors Edition players will recieve extra ingame currency called Cartel Coins which may help sweeten the deal.
For an older MMO game, SWTOR is still going strong and is my main got to game. The multiple story lines are always fun to explore and the steady addition of new expansions it keeps the game fresh with plenty of post game content. I love that each time you play a class you can choose different answers to tweak the storyline. as you play a class. You can play as either a Sith or a Jedi as well as non force users like a Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent, Smuggler or Republic special forces soldiers. If you enjoy being able to explore while you are in game, there is plenty opportunity for that in SWTOR with hidden holocrons and lore objects to find. There are also plenty of achievements both listed and hidden. You also have the option to play two storylines per planet with the class and a planet mission giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the planet. With a downloadable free to play option you have the option to play without any cash layout. Read full review

Having been an MMO nerd since the late 90s, I was just expecting more from this product. As with most reviews I've seen online there are some excellent features to the game, Vocalized story lines, AoE looting, excellent graphics and character animations, and customizable gear. (use of inserted items to make the gear better) However some of the things that have caused me not to redeem my CE code yet are the following. (I was in beta for over a year and my wife is still currently playing): -Character creation leaves much to be desired -Combat can be glitchy, especially for casters -Unbalanced classes for PvP -Limited use of Starship (ala Mass Effect > SWG) -50 item Auction Limit (Tons of greens can't sell) -Static UI (No customization) -Vendor/GTN Search functionality is minimal at best -LFG while present is not as function as other mmos -Minimal Guild options -Very Theme Park no room for true open exploring (on planets or using your ship) -Overall missing many bells and whistles that are standard in other games currently. Some may say it's unfair to compare this game to WoW or any other mmo on the market, however when you ask me to pay a subscription to your game you have to make me want to give up paying my current one. The Old Republic does not at this time make me want to cancel any one of my other 5 active subscriptions. While I only rate this game a 3, I have many friends who the storyline is plenty for them. I will likely wait until the first large content update or expansion before I throw myself into it. My apologies for the format of this review as it was I was not allowed paragraphs or spaces.Read full review
Star Wars: The Old Republic is a worthy successor (not sequel) to Star Wars Galaxies, and a great overall MMO, especially for Star Wars fans. It is much different than Star Wars Galaxies (the first Star Wars MMO) but includes nice graphics and sound effects and the type of music you would expect in a Star Wars film. Great for teaming up with one or more friends, and the game now offers a F2P "free to play" option for those low on cash or who play casually. I have had the game since closed beta, before launch, and it has steadily improved in quality, features and content since that time. If you are a gamer and a Star Wars fans, this is as good as it gets for an MMO that is a good fit for you. Like any MMO, voice chat is very useful for groups and guilds, so you may wish to get on TeamSpeak, Mumble, etc. if you plan on playing with others. This game offers a great deal of content and quests, both ground-based and in space and offers servers focused on PvE (player vs. environment), PvP (player vs. player), and RP (roleplay) and you can have multiple characters per server and/or play on multiple servers as you please. I recommend this game to those looking for a great story woven into a world-class MMO, especially if you plan to play with friends.Read full review
It has been many years since I have taken my younger brother to see Star Wars " A New Hope" with my girlfriend now my wife back in 1977. Though I play the games avidly since it came out I didn't see the need to purchase the "Collectors Edition" when it was available and have regretted it ever since. I am very pleased with my purchase and have no regrets doing so.

How can you rate this product one star? This space if for reviewing the product not the price. This product is sold out at many of the resalers. If this product sucks that bad, the why is it sold out? Yes I myself would not pay $275 dollars for the game, but that is only because I don't have that much money to spend on a game and I am one of the lucky ones who have a preorder of this game. If you have the money and want to play this game, buy this product. The collectors edition is the only way to go. The in game items alone make the Collectors Edition worth it (provided that they stay collectors edition only). It does not stop there, you also get all the extra stuff you might want to sell here.
Most new mmo's that come out these days are trying really hard to be the next World of Warcraft... and while they get some of the mechanics copied down to a T, they miss out on so much more. Not only does SWTOR get what WoW did well, but it goes far beyond that. Its only just come out and it already light-years ahead of WoW on the storytelling and graphics front. It still has a bit to go on its endgame and pvp, but thats expected with any new mmo. (and never mind the earlier "review" of some guy ranting about how he couldnt figure out the sign up process... you DO get 30 days free and they dont charge you the subscription fee till that time has run out)
Made by Bioware (Mass Effect,Dragon Age Series) and published by Electronic Arts (EA), Star Wars: The Old Republic is a MMO (Massively Multiplayer Game) set a long long time ago in the content rich Star Wars universe years before the movies. You have the choice of Jedi or Sith. The war between the Jedi & Sith is at large and you could be the difference between one prevailing and the other falling. Rising through the ranks, the player can explore various planets and stars throughout the galaxy, packed with thousands of hours of Quests, Side Quests and exploration with friends or family all over the world. The games visuals look fantastic, game play is smooth and similar to World of Warcraft, and the game has mass potential when it comes to expansion packs in the future. The subscriptions for this game can be bought in Monthly & at 3,6 and 12 Month intervals and the prices are very similar to WoW prices. Although they vary from country to country. Although Bioware/EA has limited the number of copies sold (around 2 million) worldwide to reduce server failure and to increase stability. The games future looks set with mass support by fans of Star Wars and of Bioware and could possible reach 7-10 million players world wide by mid next year if the cap was lifted. This game is a must for anybody, Star Wars fan or not. Watch out World of Warcraft. Their is a new kid in town.Read full review
I LOVE star wars so I was hoping that SWTOR would suit my needs for a mmog and I am very pleased to say it does. I bough the SWTOR collectors Edition because I wanted all the extras, especially the soundtrack. If you JUST want the game with no extras, I would recommend the standard version of SWTOR. If you want physical and digital items the SWTOR CE is the way to go. Also the Statue of Darth Malgus was one of the best physical item I ever got from a video game, especially a SW one. Its made by Gentle Giant, a really good company that make QUALITY statues. I was suprised that in the game box itself it included $30 off another Gentle Giant SWTOR statue, that retails at $50!!! so you only have to pay $20. Now the game itself is INCREDIBLE with no lags and no crashes. The story line and pvp/pve is incredibly good. In conclusion the SWTOR CE is one of the greatest CE's I have ever got and includes the best extra's, physical and digital. You should watch out for good deals on it. Like I got mine for only $80 NEW!!!!!. So just look for cheaper ones if you dont want to pay the retail price of $150.Read full review
Fabulous storylines in base game, lots of customizability of character, and who doesn’t love running around in the Star Wars galaxy?
