    ASUS, Revisited, Seven Years Later

    I only burned one DVDRW to date, and it worked. Rather flimsy construction as others have noted and requires a special (included) USB two headed cable to provide power. This replaces a similar ASUS Model purchase in 2010. Definitely weighs less than the earlier version. Apparently the Chinese are also "cutting corners"!

    Asus is a decent brand and usually makes good quality stuff.

    I bought this a while back. It froze with the disc inside of it and never worked again after burning like 3 discs. Also the plug on back poked through which sucks. This is unusual because I had one of these before and it worked great and made many discs. However this one that I bought here on ebay turned out to be a lemon. I had forgot about rating it because my phone had gotten smashed with a tire iron while I was working on my van and I'd lost a lot of information that I never backed up. (LG makes this Mdisc external drive that rocks!)

    Light and a little flimsy but is works great

    This DVD writer does everything it's supposed to. Excellent value, and works out of the box with my iMac. My only complaint is that it's so light that when you open the door and try to put in a disc, you have to use two hands: one to steady drive and one to insert the disc. Then you need to use two hands to close it: one to steady the drive and one to push the door closed.
