The oats or grain the beetles were in smelled super old and had lots of grain mites.

It's a frass layer from my dubia so it can be a bit older, it's actually good to have older frass as it has beneficial bacteria in it that will prevent unwanted molds from forming. As far as the mites go I am not experiencing any outbreaks, they do come and go as the beetles job is to clear them out in the first place.
