Good quality mouse - will purchase another unit

This type of mouse - which you do not need white paper or can use on glass or uneven surface - is the only way to go. I also use this for my tablet/laptop. To make the ball even smoother and more responsive, I spayed contact cleaner on the ball metal bearings and it works better.

  • Top critical review

Too small, 2 buttons, bad software, cheap switches, strange screws, cheap pads, over priced.

The ring and the trackball move very smoothly even after months of heavy use and the optical sensor is accurate and durable. But the whole mouse is small enough to fit mostly in the palm of my hand. While the trackball can be removed for cleaning, the scroll ring cannot. The ball is too small which limits it's range of motion. The buttons are aren't positioned or shaped comfortably. The driver software can be configured to create a third virtual button when you click both physical buttons at once but it's not compatible with many game and office applications and it hogs the CPU. After only a few weeks of light to moderate use, or a few days of heavy use, the buttons will begin to automatically double-click on occasion. This becomes more severe over time until the buttons become ...

  • Almost hits the mark

My only gripe is that the buttons are placed back and require me to move my thumb and pinks back 1/2" to click them...it is difficult and not natural to double click with my thumb which is much harder to get used to at this angle. I think the cheapo Logitech Marble may have a better grasp of this with the position of the click keys. Still, the logitech does not have the handy scroll wheel which i love.

  • Great track ball

This trackball is what I have been missing for years and did not realize this until now. A hand held mouse does not have the speed, comfort and accuracy of a trackball. Why I hesitated in the purchase of a trackball is that many did not have a page scroll control which, for my use, is essential. This one does using the ring controller - well designed and is a pleasure to use. I will be swapping out my other mouse units for a Kensington Scroll Ring Mouse. Cons: The extension pad which is packaged separately, that attaches to the mouse body to give your arm / wrist support, is not at all well designed to attach to the mouse, The tooling out design of the pad does not snugly fit onto the mouse body. It needs to clamp or snap onto the body so that it stays in place. This is why the 4 ...

  • It is what it is.

There is an inherent limitation to trackballs in that they'll only go as far (in one motion) as you can roll the trackball itself. If it's not too far, then it's not a problem. If it is, then it's a question of whether its as good as a wireless mouse or other input device. Only you can know that for sure. For me, while the trackball worked flawlessly, it eventually became obvious that the trackball wasn't going to work as I needed it to. However, it did surprise me by doing rather well in Photoshop tracing. 4 stars.
