Better than what I had, but not as good as I'd hoped

I didn't have any problems with set up, though using it is not always intuitive. I like that the phone verbally repeats each number that you dial. It has prevented my dialing a wrong number a couple of times. In speaker mode, the sound is loud and clear, as is the phone's ring. The sound from the handset is loud but not as clear as I'd hoped. Our desk phones that do not have wireless handsets are not as loud, but they are more clear. The Clarity is an improvement over our last phone because of the volume, but it hasn't made it much easier for me to understand soft-spoken callers or weak cell phone calls. When the phone rings and when the Clarity's handset is in use a red light surrounds the charging dock, and it stays red until the handset is replaced. Its not having an answering machine is not a problem for us because we have a second phone does take messages. I would buy this phone again.

    Ok Product

The buttons on the phone are not the most intuitive, especially for an older person. First, there's no END button. The TALK button serves as both the on/off button...it can be a challenge to explain this to an older person that isn't as tech savvy. Also, the address book is not very easy to navigate (it's easy to go down the wrong menu path and not be able to get back to the address book), and the product did not come with a users manual. We were able to figure it out, but again, we're more tech savvy then an 88 year old which is who we purchased the phone for and I would think the type of customer that would be the typical user of this device. Overall, it seems like a good product; there were just a couple of disappointing pieces as I just explained. We purchased the phone because of the "hard of hearing" component, and this appears to be meeting our needs, but the phone was not designed for the elderly.

  • B+ Overall

The most important function and why we bought the phone is because it is LOUD. My moderate-severely hearing impaired mother is able to communicate on this phone which she couldn't on a regular phone, even with the volume at max. The two cons on this phone are that (1) the volume knob just spins so it is hard to tell when it is turned to max unless you are reading the screen and (2) the on/off button is the same color as all the other buttons and hard for my elderly mother to find. I fixed this with some neon green fingernail polish and we no longer have a problem.

  • a great phone for the hard of hearing at good price

this is a great phone for the hard of hearing it is a must have product. I can set my phone down now to talk and listen who is on the other end and the sound is clear and loud. Also it also speaks the number you are dailing and the ID let you know who is calling in big letters. This phone is a great help to me something I should of purchase a long time ago

  • Easily heard ringer and lights up like a neon sign if you need visual aid this is a good one.

It isn't better than expected but is very satisfactory. The range of sound adjustment is good and easily adjusted to the listeners choice. The verbal cid is not very clear but not a issue with me. Will turn off the function and everything is OK

  • Great quality! Makes talking on the phone a lot better.

The one thing I did not pay enough attention to is that there is not an answering device with this phone. Other than that we are very satisfied with the quality of talk! It is so easy to hear now.

  • New XLC 3.4+ Worse then old one(same model)

I have this phone for many years and was happy with everything it do. couple weeks ago i bought 2nd one the same Clarity XLC3.4+ & difference is huge. New phone is much WORSE then old one.sound quality is o'k,but loudness is MUCH less, & you have to use boost button every time you speak. on the old one you push "BOOST" button once & it hold setting for next call.

  • Helps with Amplification!

The phone offers amplification that really does help. My old cordless showed voice mails on the screen in a way that was easier to read . . . also, the "talk" button is also the "off" button, which has taken just a bit of getting used to. Bottom line: the amplification is worth the little features that I miss.

  • Very Useful

It's good , but take sometime to read the manual. Speaker is great, battery life is great and you could plugin a 3.5mm headset to. And yes it's good for people with hearing aid problems. If it does not completely solve your problem at least the situation will improve a little.

  • Great for hearing impaired

It definitely increases volume for hearing impaired, however, calls can not be blocked and no special ring tones for certain numbers of family members numbers. I got used to those with my old system and I do miss that, but if a volume boost is of high priority, this is the phone for you.
