2010 reissue of the classic Stones album housed in a super-jewel case (to complete 're-masters' box set). Regarded as one of the greatest albums in Rock 'n' Roll history and one of the most defining of the Stones' catalogue. Upon it's release more than three decades ago, Exile on Main Street innovatively wove varying musical genres, instruments and even artists into a compelling rhythmic masterpiece. The original 18-track double-album was recorded in various stages at multiple locations, including Olympic Studios in London, Keith Richard's mansion Nellcote in France, and in Los Angeles where the literal Main Street influenced the album title. These atypical circumstances surrounding the recording process greatly affected the album's outcome which was highly reflective and influenced by the sociopolitical turbulence that marked the late '60' s and early '70' s.

    Remastering Disaster

    Just listened to this 2010 Remastered Exile On Main Street. I have to say that this has never been a great recording - even on Vinyl. The CBS 80's issue CD was lackluster - a dead recording, muddy with no life. The 1994 Virgin Issue is the only way to go...as this 2010 remaster is virtually torture to listen to... I assume that the powers that be compressed the sound resulting in an extremely "Hot" overpowered, harsh delivery - the highs will make your ears bleed, even with reduced volume. - Maybe this will sound super on an IPOD, however on my high end system it simply dosen't work. I'll ditch this and go back to the virgin 1994 issue.

    Best of the three original Rolling Stones albums I've heard (Including Beggar's Banquet and Sticky FIngers). It manages a better uniformity of energy of sound.

    Interesting Music From The Best Rock Band

    I purchased this specifically for the song, Let it Loose, but there are many songs that really grow on you. While it's not my fav Stones album, I can see why many view this as one the best rock n roll albums ever made. If you enjoy more than a bit of country in your rock music, then this is the DVD for you.
