Assembly time ~ five hours. 35-page assembly manual. Ugh. No young kid would have the patience for that. Once it's finished, it's frustrating to use. When you release a control, the motor gradually slows down before stopping, so it never stops where you want it to ... it always "overshoots" the mark. That makes it nearly impossible, for example, to pick up something on the table ... the arm goes past the "target" before it finally stops. (Imagine if you didn't have brakes on your car, and you had to wait for it to randomly coast to a stop!) Wires are incredibly flimsy and stiff, so I suspect they won't last too long. Design is ridiculous ... for example you need to remove screws and disassemble the base in order to change or remove the batteries! (Yet the instructions say "After use be sure to remove the batteries.") What were they thinking? I would not take another one of these even if someone offered it to me for free. Do yourself (or your kids) a favor ... buy something else instead!Read full review

If you're into Lego bricks, Meccano toys or airfix models then you'll find putting this robot arm together a lot easier. The step by step instructions provided was easy to follow but it doesn't 'hold your hand' too much. The kit came in seperate pieces and every section had to be carefully combined to get to the final result. The total build time was around 3 hours and it was very interesting to learn how robotic arm mechanisms are designed and created. Due to the very tiny parts and sharp metal and plastic objects I don't think it is suitable for younger children. For older children under supervision and adults this robot kit is great.
