Works Better Than Traditional Marking Gauges

Works better than wooden marking gauges, and the scale on the stem is accurate. Using the scale is easier than using a rule to set the gauge. Makes a score line that can be easily seen. I usually darken the line with a pencil, but with good eyes and good light, the score is enough.

  • Top critical review

For the price the product is ok.

Pros: The price, metal built quality. Cons: The ruler markings on the side are painted and the paint wears off as you use the slider. The knob could be better, more contact as you screw in. And the blade would be better if it were sharp. Seems mine is very dull, indents more than cuts a line.

  • Very good.

The product works quite well. The only negative might be that the screw to tighten or loosen the position of the guide is too close to the brass ring. A person with large hands might find it somewhat difficult to adjust.

  • Wheeled Marking Gauge

The 8” wheeled marking gauge has 1/8” and 1 mm scales etched into the rod. The marking disc is steel and cuts a fine line into wood for measurements. The cutting disc is counter-sinked and fits into the brass collar to protect the cutting edge. I’ve been able to use the gauge four ways; as a marking gauge, a depth gauge, a ruler and for measurement transfers. I think it’s a pretty useful tool to have in my shop. I’ll be able to use it on any building material.

  • great little gauge.

I am impressed with the quality of this gauge for the price. It's imported, obviously, but it is a well-made tool, all steel and brass and solidly fitted. My only concern for long-term use is the means by which the graduation of the measures is done on the shaft. The measures appear to be printed or very shallowly etched. A deeper etching would make this a lifetime tool; we'll see how the measures last.
