There are loads of online reviews about this mic from people who've dived much deeper into it. I'm a full-time voiceover guy, and while I know good sound when I hear it, I can't pull up graphs and charts and point to exactly why. For a few weeks I've been test-driving this one alongside an MXL 990, a Nady SCM 1000, and a Sennheiser 416. All vastly different mics, but since I don't have a Neumann U-87, I'm not doing any direct comparisons anyway. I do like the WA-87. Smooth and warm, especially when you're up close, but still able to handle some extreme sound pressure levels (think: a videogame death sequence). It's sensitive enough that it's showing me some deficiencies in my voice booth... whoops! So yeah, I'm no Neumann aficionado, but this mic is definitely now part of my 'front line.'Read full review

Have owned a studio for 24 years and have quite an extensive mic collection. I bought 2 of these and they quickly became one my favorites. They are similar to our U87 but without the high and low end bump. Used them first on acoustic guitar going through UA 6176's and they were excellent. Next used them on drum over heads again excellent.

It has a fairly good sound, but a little lacking on the low end.
