I got this watch because of the altimeter function, which works perfectly, IF you read the instructions carefully. It is sensitive enough to measure a change in altitude when walking one or two flights of stairs (minimum difference of 5 meters). The altimeter updates every 5 seconds for the first 3 minutes after pressing the "ALTI" button, and after that it slows down to 2 minutes, to save battery. The altimeter needs to be calibrated before use approximately once a day (or more, e.g. if there has been a severe storm), because of natural shifts in air pressure. This is easily done by just bringing a watch to a known altitude and setting that altitude as the current one. It is also possible to recalibrate the barometer function, but this is not advised by Casio unless the watch has been showing incorrect readings. All in all this is a great little device for the price. Case and strap hold up well.Read full review

Bought this watch for the barometer function. While it seems to measure barometric pressure accurately, it fails miserably in showing pressure trend over time. This is very important in predicting weather, as the pressure trend is the key to indicating weather changes. I found a far better barometer watch that works as it should. Clearly shows pressure trend for 24 hour period, not the simple and almost useless left and right arrow indicator on the Casio. Regret spending the money on the Casio, as it is far inferior to the watch I found.

I was looking for a reasonable priced watched which I could swim pith and was light on the wrist. This met my needs and the green nylon strap is comfortable and it is lovely and light. In the past I have bought S/S watches with S/S bracelets and they were heavy. it is great to swim with and I hardly feel it. The thermometer & barometer works well. The world time zone feature as great as I travel a lot and struggle to keep the correct local times

As an everyday watch it's fine, but if you're looking at this for the altimeter feature, there are MUCH better options out there. (Though you'll probably have to spend a lot more, too.) The only altimeter function is the current elevation. (And, of course, at this price don't expect 100% accuracy.) There is no "accumulated elevation gain," etc. (Which is what I wanted for cycling.) Also, it only updates the elevation every couple minutes, so it may be OK for hiking, but not biking.
