The Primos Easy Cam Trail Camera (63051) is a nice camera and it takes good pictures. But I have a few complaints, it is too simple. In an attempt to make it simple Primos sacrificed some accentual features; 1) you set the time and date from your computer (at home) if it takes an hour or two to get to your camera the time on the pictures are off by that amount of time, you can not revise time and date when you are in the field unless you have a lap top or a SD card viewer with you. You could have bought a upgraded camera for the price of a SD card viewer. 2) you can not very 'Trigger Speed' you get one picture every 10 seconds, I wish they would have provided a 10 second or 1 minute switch choose to eliminate redundant pictures..

It is an ok camera not great no to bad. Pros: -Long battery life. -It do the job, set it and you will have a bunch of pictures of whatever move in front of the camera. -One of the cheapest on the market. Cons: -No battery indicator, you never know how many juice left. -Date and time can only be set in the computer, you need to gest the time and hour you going to turn on the device to have a accurate time printed. -Pictures looks like where interpolated, I dude the resolution of 5mp. -no ajustable settings at all. Other thoughts: I give 2 star for the camera itself and one more for the discount price. 3 star.

I live on a main road, so I use it to monitor who comes to the home as well as recording any animals in the cams view. The only trouble is that most every vehicle that passes the house sets off the camera & I view the pictures on my computer. Mostly I delete most of them, but in one picture I got a person's picture who the cops have been looking for a picture of. It's easy to view the pictures & delete or save the ones you want. The pictures are fairly clear at 5MP & it even takes pictures at night. The only thing I wonder about are the snap latches that keep it closed. I wonder how they will hold up in very cold winter weather if I want to open the cam & remove the SD Card for viewing & then closing it up again. So far it has done well for me. And I only have to put in 4 AA batteries,(I have the option to put in 8 or 4 batteries). 4 Batteries have been running it fine since I have had it. This is the only one that seemed to have that option. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase.Read full review

It is a basic trail camera that takes pictures in daylight or dark. The trigger speed is a bit slow so faster moving targets get a little blurred. It picks up targets out to 40 feet and the pictures are good enough. There are no internal settings that you can change, just an on/off switch. Seems to be about a 20 second delay, and you can't change that. To set the time/date, you have to stick the SD card in the camera, turn it on, then turn it off. This imprints a time control program on the card. You then stick the card in your laptop, and open the time control program to set the date and time on the card. You have to kind of guess when you will get to the spot where you want to hang the camera, and set it to that. It seems like a lot of fooling around, but it is very simple. I submerged the camera in my kitchen sink for about fifteen minutes and had no leaks. I left it out on two rainy nights and several freezing ones and had no problems at all. Basically this is a very simple, effective trail cam that only costs 30 bucks. I'm probably gonna end buying several if the first one holds up to being left in the woods for a while. PRIMOS headlines this camera as a 5 Mega Pixel unit. It is a ONE Mega Pixel camera. If you wish to Artificially "Clean Up" the photos, you must run them through a computer algorythm that PREDICTS what a "finer grain" photograph would look like. It sharpens up edges by noticing that there is a line (of large "Native" pixels) of dots kind of in a row, and decides that there is indeed an edge there. This was used to "Clean Up" satellite imagery. It gives you a better quality camera through computer manipulation. It's just like cleaning up an audio recording using a computer. Trouble is, the camera only gives you a ONE Mega Pixel Image in the first place, and the camera is billed as a 5 MP unit. Without the software, you are stuck with a Low Resolution Camera. I have tried the camera(s) indoors so far, and the results have been washed out badly when the subject was VERY close (at night). Color daytime shots have been OK. I am looking forward to mounting it outdoors. I'm guessing it will perform much better. That being said, this is a solid camera, it functions perfectly well, and has a capture time of about one second. Most other cameras get a good picture of your Butt as you are walking away, due to their slow trigger times. This one is much better than the last four that I have owned. I have trespassing neighbors, not deer, so I am wanting some facial features here. The LED "Flash" is Far Red, and somewhat visible. I'm guessing that they would call it NEAR INFRA RED. It would cost a bit more to use the longer wavelength IR LEDs, (Far Infra Red) but this is a budget camera, and it fills that bill admirably. It has a small, rugged case, robust battery box, and a simlple control switch (ON/OFF). When the SD card is plugged in and the camera first turned on, an executable file is put onto the card for a WINDOWS computer to read to set the time and date. The card is then reinserted into the camera and the pictures are then logged with the correct time and date. You can just type the data in yourself (I use a ChromeBook) using a simple Word Processor to make a tiny .txt file. For instance, to set the time and date to 09:35 on the morning of 23FEB2016, the data would be stored in the format: "TIME"YYYYMMDDHHMM (With no spaces or any other characters at all) and you would type: "TIME"201602230935 and store it in a .txt file titled TIMESYNCH onto the SD Card This is a brilliant solution to the "Technology Creep" of adding MORE AND MORE Bells and Whistles to things that should have been kept simple. I happen to be an Electronic Design Engineer, and I DESPISE the trend towards Over-Featurization. This type of a simple camera has been LONG Overdue, and I am happy that we have one from PRIMOS. I am just a little miffed that they hawked it as a 5 MP unit, when it is actually a 1 MP unit. Oregon Scientific pulled the same stunt when the Digital Camera was in it's infancy, as did many other early makers. I never met a single engineer who could make their software work! The $60 List Price has been discounted to $30 with Free Shipping, making this the most affordable Solid Quality camera that I am aware of. Even with my acidic complaint about the overzealous marketing, this is a real step forward from my big Moultrie, and even my Blackout PRIMOS. Simple, Robust hardware is what guys like me want, and I will continue to pay for it. Yes, I am complaining, but I already bought FOUR of these, and will probably buy four more. Money is tight, but money is a tool that I use to purchase other tools that I need. Hope this helps your decision on what to put YOUR hard-earned money towards. GUZZIHAPRead full review
