I'm using it with Hifiman's Edition X v2 (25ohms) and it drives them well. Haven't tried with high impedance phones. I was skeptical since it draws its power solely from usb but comparing it to my Mytek 192 is not that bad for less than 200 dollars.

I bought this product on the strength of the Meridian name. I particularly bought it because it supports 24-bit up to 192 khz. It does not sound awful, but it lacks dynamic range and sparkle; it does not live up to the standards set by Meridian's predecessor products. The JDL Labs Odac kills it. To be perfectly frank, this purchase was a mistake. I am very disappointed. I do not regard it as an audiophile's choice. I cannot fault it on its build quality. It's reasonable. I've seen better; I've seen worse.

The depth of the dark silences is impressive. Powerful enough for most headphones it may disapoint those who value PRAT above all else and is too well mannered to really rock. Perfect for ultra relaxed listening. I'll be keeping mine!

I`m using Meridian Explorer 2 as a DAC for a headphone amp. It`s not a high-end DAC, but plays well above it`s price. Good opportunity to try Meridian house sound without breaking a bank.

This DAC is small, solidly made and provides great sound, for the price. The MQA support is a nice bonus if you're using Tidal, for example.
