Little unreality
I read the book and liked it. I purchased this set thinking it was a movie not a series. It's geared too much toward a younger generation for my likes. The book does not have enough sustainable material for a series. I realized it wasn't going to be an adaptation of literary likes of Archer's Prison Trilogy which was terrific. Now that could be an excellent miniseries. I can only handle one episode per evening of OITNB. Some of it is really sort of silly. I can't imagine some of the goings on in a real prison setting. Maybe a nut house. I read the book and liked it. I purchased this set thinking it was a movie not a series. It's geared too much toward a younger generation for my likes. Orange really IS the new black!
This is a very well-written mini-series regarding life in prison. Though some of it is a bit sensationalized for dramatic effect, in many ways it is representative of what I saw in my years as a correctional officer. It is much more realistic than the shows like Lockup, Hard Time, etc...plus it has a sense of humor. I am enjoying watching this - well worth the $$$ and much better than most of the offerings on satellite television. Be advised though: this is not family viewing. It is contemporary adult comedy with some little dramas interspersed.This is a very well-written mini-series regarding life in prison. Though some of it is a bit sensationalized for dramatic effect, in many ways it is representative of what I saw in my years as a correctional officer. A great film!
When I first saw this my first impression was I would not like it and it would be a waste of time. I was very wrong. The show is a based upon the book of the same name and is the is the story of a person convicted of a drug charge. This is just the beginning. The character development was excellent. At times it appears as it is 6 movies in one there is so much going on however this makes it better not worse.There is something for everyone. The ending left me wanting more.When I first saw this my first impression was I would not like it and it would be a waste of time. I was very wrong. I bought this more out of curiosity than anything and am enjoying it a lot! The only thing I hate about it is the "song" at the beginning of each episode which to me is awful. This definitely is a set that I am sure is a winner not only for Netflex but for those who want to see something very unusal. Is it the best DVD set ever--no way, but it is fun to watch and am sure when Season 2 comes out I will get it! (I don't have streaming features).I bought this more out of curiosity than anything and am enjoying it a lot! The only thing I hate about it is the "song" at the beginning of each episode which to me is awful.
