About this product

Product Information

Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno play strangers who meet in an airport (via cell phone) when their flights are canceled because of a strike in Daniele Thompson's romantic French comedy JET LAG. Binoche is Rose, a woman obsessed with makeup and style, who is seemingly shallow and selfish. Reno, taking a break from playing action heroes in American films (GODZILLA, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE), is Felix, a lonely former chef who is now a frozen-food king. Rose is seeking a new life in Mexico, far from her abusive former lover, Sergio (Sergi Lopez), while Felix is heading to Munich to recapture something he has lost. Both have dysfunctional relationships with their parents--Rose with her mother, Felix with his father. As they are stuck in Charles de Gaulle Airport and later in an airport hotel, truths come out that force them to face their uncertain futures. Elisabeth Tavernier's costume design for Rose is a riot; Binoche wears lots of makeup and very bright red and blue outfits. Reno, in contrast, plays his character with a quiet, sad solemnity. Interestingly, Thompson began her career writing screenplays with her father, actor-writer-director Gerard Oury, and she cowrote JET LAG with her son, Christopher.

Ed at Hot Platters is a very good seller and has amazing customer service. Shipping was very quick and item was as described. However there was a slight packing error that resulted in minor damage occuring to the product during shipping . I contacted them immediately after discovering the issue, several solutions were proposed and we came to an arrangement suitable for us both. Five stars. I trust this vendor and will definitely buy from them again.

  • Charming but not entirely convincing

All the usual devices of romantic comedy are utilised in this film - and, for good measure, the more serious issue of a failed father-son relationship is thrown in too. What might be a series of stultifying clichés partially succeeds in emerging as a story on the other side. At the centre - indeed there is only a centre - are Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno. They meet by chance, remeet by chance, spend time together, annoy each other, get back together, part once more and meet at 6000 miles' distance by mobile phone. Only superficial emotions are shown or even hinted at. They are both fiery, demanding, each involved in an outside relationship that fails to bring anything but grief. So the viewer waits and hopes for them to get together. Unfortunately, no real possible reason for this to ...

  • Airport Rendezvous

I love airports, I get a rush when I see planes take off. I have been stranded in Charles de Gaulle spending the night on one of the hard seats. I also enjoy Jean Reno films. I was intrigued to see him paired with Juliette Binoche whom I've only seen in serious roles like Cache. A romantic encounter for people of a certain age was also a plus. The storyline is credible, Felix lonely frozen food mogul is pulled out of his cochon,Rose escaping from a failed affair finds love, and the violent ex boyfriend mets his replacement, all played out in the airport & hotel. The cell phone is the catalyst to make all this possible. The ending should have had the couple embrassing once more at the airport when Rose flew back from Mexico.

  • Jet Lag (DVD, 2004)

At Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, a French beautician (Juliette Binoche) on her way to a new job in Mexico accidentally meets a French chef (Jean Reno) who has been delayed on his way to Germany from his residence in the United States. Labor strikes, bad weather, and pure luck cause the two of them to share a room overnight at the airport Hilton hotel. Their initial mutual indifference and downright hostility evolves into romance and a re-examination of their lives. This is a really cute movie and was most enjoyable.
