I had to modify the 'gap', not only to get the wire through the slot, but to be able to clinch it together to get it in the back of the Blow Mold. In older fragile pieces I would be a little leery of trying to push them in the back, for fear of breaking the plastic Blow Mold. Yes they fit THAT tight. Going to be a bear when it comes time to change the bulb.
