    Good tool with some minor quirks

    Classic Starrett quality. Managed to get a great deal because mine needed a rebuild and rust removal. Quality shows through when you can take something that neglected and easily refurbish it. That said, it has a few confusing design quirks. The vernier scale is only held in place with screws so it can loosen and slide a bit out of place if you're not paying attention. With the precision manufacturing across all the rest of the components, I can't see why they don't locate this properly with pins. This potential loss of precision angle calibration could be easily managed if it wasn't for the second design issue: the straight edges do not line up in the same plane when it is set to 0 degrees.
