    This is not an exact replacement for the original Berkey filters as the original had silver incorporated in the carbon matrix to prevent bacterial growth within the filters. The EPA for some reason listed the original Berkey filters as a pesticide, though silver tableware is well accepted. There is an ongoing lawsuit.
