    Break the Deadlock...

    Tarka the Otter is a film adaptation of a popular book of the same name. With Peter Ustinov narrating and real-life footage of otters in the wild being used at times it runs like a documentary on the topic, however this does not devalue the film. The story follows Tarka's life from birth and his many adventures in the wild, along with the inevitable crossing of paths with man. Having not read the book and just interested to give it a shot I found it a charming and entertaining watch, though certainly more lazy Sunday afternoon viewing than a wild night in. I have read reviews concerning the too 'real' nature of the content for children, but I suppose this is just a matter of taste. You can perhaps imagine what that refers to in terms of an otter being pursued by The Hunt including a pack ...

    Tarka the otter

    I bought the DVD as I had previously read the book and wanted to see if the film was as good as the book. It is about the adventures of an otter called Tarka and the owner and their life together on a remote Scottish Island. The film is shot in black and white.
