About this product

Product Information

One of the Sega Dreamcast's most unique and critically acclaimed games gets resuscitated on the Wii in Samba de Amigo. Players take on the role of a sombrero-wearing monkey named Amigo as he shakes maracas, here embodied by the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, to the rhythm of various pop songs and Latin-flavored tracks from the original game. Gamers can get into the rhythm in Single-Player, Career, and Multiplayer modes, with Single-Player mode offering one-song challenges and the Career mode asking players to complete a series of songs in order to unlock 48 different items. The Multiplayer mode breaks down into five smaller modes, with one of those modes further expanding into seven mini-games that include piñata smashing, dancing, and playing volleyball. Gamers can also play in a training mode, view record scores, and use Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection to download content.

Need a good wiimote but will still dance

This game is pretty decent if you can get the controls working properly. My wiimote is kind of weird so I can't accurate swing it right, but if you can, then more power to you. The music is fantastic though; exclusively covers with some originals made for samba.

  • fun, considering the cost

Since this game can be had for just a few bucks these days and you don't really need actual maracas, its pretty fun with some good latin music. I wish they would give more than Yes/no choices. Really the graphics aren't that good, but I don't want to just say "no". They are typical for a Wii game.

  • One of the best rhythm games I've ever played!

When I heard a new Samba De Amigo game was coming out, I was interested in trying out the original game on the Wii. I found a copy for only $5, and it was well worth it. This game is so much fun, and I love the variety of music it features! It does take some time to get used to, and being that it's on an older console there is a little bit of input delay when played on a modern HD TV. But other than that, it's a solid rhythm game, and a true SEGA classic!

  • Shake and Dance to the spicy beat

Choose from some spicy music and shake your maracas. It uses the nunchuk and the controller--unlike other music games. You have three positions to hold the maracas--shoulder, chest and waist level. You have two hands and a total of 6 positions. Play in Hustle mode and it has you dancing and striking a pose. The other games in the game are striking a pinata and a few other lame ones. But the main game is out of the ordinary, we like to dance and shake

  • Samba de Amigo

Even setting the price aside, this is a great game. But when you factor in that it's only $20, it is the best game (valuewise) we own. The premise is simple -- shake your remotes in the directions indicated by the flowing balls. Strike a pose when it tells you to or in hustle mode, wave your arms in a dancelike motion. It's a rhythm game. The music selection is the best! A lot of fun, familiar, upbeat music. On easy it really is easy -- but fun. It gets more challenging on medium and hard. One quirk: It took us some time to figure out how to get our sideways motions to register properly. The game registers the angle of your remotes. Up and down are pretty easy, but for sideways may take a little more practice to get right on the horizontal.
