Not my first Schrade
Upon opening box, I was taken back a little by the weight of it. Weight is usually a good thing in some regards. I wasn't sure about purchasing this one because of how the blades are together and not one on each end. I don't always use the short blade, so in this case it will more than likely be the same as to only using the larger one. I have been a Buck fan all my life and now have quite a collection of said knives and even though this Schrade is not my first, it will only be a test of time to see if it's my last. I like pocket knives and the smaller ones {pen knives}. I feel like this one will be left on the shelf on my work bench in the shed. I am having a hard time in getting either blade to come out. This is a very nice Barlow reproduction from China. The materials appear to be quite good and the workmanship is acceptable. I found that I was unable to open the blades without serious effort that possibly could result in an accident. The spring tension on the closed blade is very strong. A younger person would be able to maneuver the opening and closing without much risk. This one will go into my drawer rather than my tackle box until I can find the right person to gift it to.This is a very nice Barlow reproduction from China. my first real pocket knife as a boy these knives are still a good knife even 56 yr. after the first one . good quality, easy to sharpen, just the right size when a big knife is just to big. there is nothing bad about this knife that I know of and it got a work out from me. if you use it for what a knife was made for you will always have a great tool if you use a knife as a pry bar and a screw driver order another one now because they are not made for that. This knife is one of the best all around utility knives you can carry. I recently purchased an additional knife to give as a gift. Little did I know the lady I gave it to was friends with the man who owned the company that makes this knife. She had others but not this one and she was quite pleased with my gift. Not Too Big or Too Small ~ This knife is "Just Right!"

Scrade Knives are still Winner
I've carried a Schrade Barlow for as long as I can remember in my pocket. The last Schrade Barlow I purchased was USA made and it was time to retire it. Many people say the new China made Scrade line is not as good good as the USA built one. Maybe not, but this Barlow is every bit as good as my old one. Takes, and keeps, a clean razor edge you can shave with. Time will tell how good it stands up to day to day use, but I think it will be just fine. I'll be buying more of the Taylor Brand Schrades in the near future and be putting them to the test.I've carried a Schrade Barlow for as long as I can remember in my pocket.
