This is a must have for any true fan of the Elm Street series!
This is with out a doubt one of the best Documentaries about a horror movie franchise that I have ever seen. When I first heard a documentary was being done on the Nightmare on Elm street films, I was expecting sometihing in the vein of "His Name was Jason" which, in my honest opinion, wasn't as in depth or informative as it could have been. The best I figured I could hope for was something akin to "Halloween: 25 years of terror" which was quite good. I could not be mores suprised by the 4 hours of sheer awesomeness I was about to see. That's right, 4 hours of very honest, frank, and informative and often times funny interviews, behind the scenes footage and history of each film in the Nightmare series (with the exception of the 2010 remake). I learned so many things I didn't previously know, such as the original person cast as Freddy in the first nightmare, and the Dream Warriors prop deemed too real to use. This DVD set has it all, and it includes 4 additional hours of extended interviews and deleted scenes. I was blown away by this remarkably thorough dissection of arguably the most famous horror franchise of all time.

AMAZING!!!
I'm one of the biggest noes fans out there, and to me this documentary was such a treat! The feature presentation is FOUR hours long and there was never a dull or un-interesting moment. Once it was over i wished there was four more hours! It was awesome to see some of the stars as they are today. Some you will recognize as soon as you see them or hear their voice (kincaid, taryn, will, nancy, rod, dan, and carlos among many others) some of them have gotten prettier with age (esp. alice) others not so much (tuesday knight) and some of them will flat out shock you (lezlie deane who played tracy in part 6...WOW, wtf?). There are some notable absences (patricia arquette, johnny depp, craig wasson, laurence fishburne) but any questions you might have about patricia or johnny will be answered by ... I liked the "horrors hallowed grounds" part where they go back to some of the places from the original film (the elm street house, the school, tinas house, and the bridge where glen and nancy talk). Also there was the "angry video game nerd" which i found hilarious. So the 2nd disc included that plus all the extended interviews and much more. I also own "his name was jason" and "halloween: 25 years of terror" and this blows both of them out of the water. I HIGHLY reccommend this for any horror fan!

Aside from parts 1 and 7, the DVD releases of the other films in the Elm Street series have absolutely no extras at all. Finally, someone has taken the time and effort to give Freddy fans and the other entries much needed and much deserved (and overdue) attention. "Never Sleep Again" is an exhaustive four-hour documentary that leaves no stone unturned. Featuring new interviews with every director involved in the Nightmare films and practically every cast member from each movie, this is the kind of thing fans like me have waited decades for. The production value is top notch, so much that New Line should be embarrassed for not commissioning something like this years ago. Narrated by Heather Langenkamp and featuring super cool stop-motion animated sequences inspired by iconic scenes in the ... "Ultimate Nightmare DVD Set!"
I've always been a fan of Freddy Krueger and the "Nightmare on Elm Street" films. Freddy is my favorite out of Jason, Michael and etc. I'm glad I got this dvd set that has hours of cast & crew interviews, rare footage & more. I also like the cover art and recommend this ultimate Nightmare set for your horror collection.
