These features are housed in a slim design that feels at home in any stack of electronics components.In terms of capacity, the CD changer uses a cartridge design. This helps the machine to maintain a traditional rectangular shape for this CD changer and player. Press the eject button and pop out the cartridge. Then, insert the discs in each of the six compartments. Then, simply slide the magazine right back into the component to start the party. A clicking sound indicates that the disc magazine is fully inserted. The PD-M403 unit has a memory feature, so when it is powered off, it will remember which disc was playing most recently. Play will resume with the first track of that disc.The PD-M403 model compact disc player is packed with other features for handy listening. Customize the playback with the program option of the PD-M403. Select the tracks that you want to hear, and the Pioneer PD-M403 CD changer will play them in your preferred order. If you want a unique arrangement of songs but do not want to be responsible for choosing the order, try random. This feature plays the songs from all loaded compact discs in an order selected at random by the Pioneer PD-M403 player. These players can also use manual search to find a particular track. Manual track search can also help you find the particular part of a song that is stuck in your head. Use the repeat feature on these Pioneer players to hear a favorite song again and again. The hi-lite feature of these players provides a quick survey of the first song on every compact disc currently loaded. Hi-lite can also play a snippet of each song on all of the discs in the changer. These many handy features make this accessory useful for meeting all of the needs you have for your CD players.The player's elegant approach to increasing capacity for CD players is paired with crisp audio quality and reliability. This gives you a subtle yet capable music player that is worthy of any extensive music collection. The frequency response of the Pioneer unit is 2 hertz to 20 kilohertz. These players have a dynamic range of 95 decibels, and the total harmonic distortion is 0.005%. The signal to noise ratio of the player is 98 decibels. A digital display window gives information about the compact disc and track that is currently playing. This Pioneer device measures 40 by 294 by 105 millimeters. It weighs 3.7 kilograms. Pioneer brands first released these players for compact discs in 1994.The Pioneer PD-M403 CD changer pairs nicely with a Pioneer brand stereo amplifier. When the two are used in conjunction, the remote that comes with the stereo amplifier will control these CD players.     I purchased this unit as a replacement for an identical one. The newly purchased unit works okay - some problems with the CD changer. Won't work at all in random mode.

    Description a bit off

    When they say tested, they did what I did before I went down and actually hooked it up. That was went to a plug and powered it on. It found the discs and started counting. Good sign right? Hooked it up and discs were dragging and it was unlistenable. Had to take it apart and shim the laser carriage up on one side for it to work properly. Tested and working was probably technically correct but not usable.

    Oldie but goodie

    My Pioneer CD changer went out and I have a number of CD stored in magazines. Since the unit is not longer manufactured, I ordered a used one. It's fine and now I'm happy again.

    made to be durable, with good quality sound.

    pioneer products are good durable components, i believe this particular model dates from the early 2000's and with basic care they can work twenty years later. this one particular unit was resold to me at a great price. the venders were friendlily helpful. so far no problems; i'm listening to Marta Argerich on piano with great playback quality. thanks
