This third entry in the TOPPER comedy film series--TOPPER (1937) and TOPPER TAKES A TRIP (1939)--follows the mild-mannered Topper on the trail of a phantom killer. While visiting a stately castle, a young woman is knifed to death on the eve of her friend's twenty-first birthday, upon which day she is to receive the family fortune. I had seen this movie once when I was a teenager! We wont go into how long ago that was..I didn't know the name of it all I did know was it had me laughing so hard I fell off my bed..one day I was telling my Partner about this funny movie I had seen once..we went to the library to check out some movies and happened across a two dvd set "Topper" "And Topper Returns" we watched the first one then the following night we watched this one..I jumped up and down and yelled this is it this is it..we sat down and so started our giggling laughing out loud, wiping our eyes and holding our bellies..."Topper Returns" is just as funny now as it was then! I wont spoil the movie but imagine this two beautiful young Women one soft and sweet the other loud and abrasive go to a haunted house and spend the ... I wont spoil the movie but imagine this two beautiful young Women one soft and sweet the other loud and abrasive go to a haunted house and spend the night..one Girl is murdered and it's discovered the other Girl was the target..the murdered Girls Spirit rises up from her body seeks out a nerdy balding older Man and asks his help in finding her body and her killer..yes she stays loud and abrasive which makes for some hilarious moments...ever seen a drunk ghost? this is a funny movie that does what it sets out to do entertain the audience with true comedic moments that doesn't rely on cheap sex, off color jokes and vulgar humour..I give this a 5 star rating all the way!!

VINTAGE MOVIE "TOPPER RETURNS" IS GREAT
The cast is great with Joan Blondell, Carole Landis, Roland Young (Topper) Billie Burke (Mrs. Topper) Dennis O'keefe, Patsy Kelly, and Eddie (Rochester) Anderson. Secondly, I loved it that it keeps you guessing as to the villian is. And First - this keeps you laughing throughout the whole movie. Joan Blondell is Funny as can be in her role (she really was one heck of a comedian, Roland Young as Topper for the second time is, as always, the funny and henpecked husband (Billie Burke who is a sweet and funny woman); but if you like to laugh until you cry, there is Eddie (Rochester) Anderson who really was a natural comedian. There aren't many movies today that can make us laugh and that is the main reason while I bought this after seeing it shown on television. And, most movies that have ... In other words, you really get your money's worth over and over again. As for the dislike portion of this movie - "WHEN IT'S OVER"!
