Notes
WATERSHED is the new album from the forward-thinking Swedish titans who seamlessly and fluidly combine Metal, Classic Rock, Prog, Folk and Free Form Jazz. With this, their ninth effort, Opeth continue to shake things up, turn the corner and push the limits of their sound. And the results are breathtaking. Ultimately, Watershed sounds at once completely like and absolutely nothing like previous Opeth records. Watershed takes all that is Opeth, and goes where Opeth have never gone before.

  • Opeth, A Night in the Watershed

Opeth hails to us with their new album "Watershed", a more personal and intimate encounter than with their previous release "Ghost Reveries." To a seasoned listener, one could find that while there are fewer tracks than before, with a softer side to each song. Even with tracks like "Heir Apparent", undoubtedly the heaviest song on the album, there seems to still be a restrained sorrow in the emotional mood. By restrained, I don't mean that it lacks something but rather the angry howling and growling seems to be a facade to the sadness the speaker (not literally the singer) feels. This can be apparent in songs like "Burden" and "Coil" where the narrator longs for love, a reprieve to the saddened existence they face. Soon, the snow falls ...

  • No Ghost Reveries, but a dark and somber turn all the same

Watershed is a departure from older Opeth albums. It has glimpses of the majesty Ghost Reveries had, but it moves to a quieter, more peaceful place. There's still darkness and sorrow, still sweeping soundscapes, but missing is the guitar crunch and blatant anger. It is still very enjoyable, but don't buy it thinking you are going to catch any riffs and want to crank the volume. This is an album that slowly surrounds you and sneaks up on you.

  • Watershed

Another good Opeth album. I’m new to them but have almost all of albums. Opeth is great but not for everyone.

  • Came in mail quickly. As advertised. Awesome album!

If this isn't the best album that Opeth has ever released it's pretty darn close! A couple of tracks had some small creative flaws in it that I see as "failed experiments" but besides those trifles, the album is flawless!

  • Excellent music!

I like this music! She cheers me up! I love creativity of this artist! In his music always there are surprises!
