While a lot older than the FSX or some competitors, still valuable
A very nice package, top condition, happy with shipping speed. The FS 2004 version was gold standard for years. Many add-ons were made for it that are very useful. I consider the 2004 and FSX versions compatible for most users if they run two computers and do multi-player sessions. So the 2004 software, while dated, runs fine on my Windows 10 modern computers with good screen quality. Will do fine on other previous Windows OS, like XP, 7, 8, etc. Have been using flight simulators since the mid 1980s. Was on a Commodore 64, subLOGIC brand. Progressed up through the early Windows versions of Microsnot Flight Sims. Used some others too. I bought this after FS2002 showed its limitations and FSX just simply wouldn't work on my new PC. It is a definite improvement in many ways, especially the selection of aircraft: Graphics are blow-you-away superior to those in FS2002, more aircraft have virtual cockpits, you get better air traffic around you, weather, you name it...the only flaw is the lousy Garmin GPS. It is horrible in one aspect: If you try to cue your approach to it like you might in FS2002, you will be misaligned with the runway. The GPS in FS2002 was perfect for accuracy; They should've kept that one under the Garmin name. The airport info you get with the Garmin is great, but misaligned approaches resulting from it are unacceptable. Is there a replacement GPS for the Garmin? Awsome game
Everything is good about this product, the scenery, the graphics, communication between instructor and pilot. This is a great simulator. I had problem's opening up the game in windows 7 OS so I turned to my other laptop with the windows XP OS and it installed perfectly and ran flawlessly. If you have the windows 7 professional I understand it should work okay on that system. If you plan on installing this game or any game in your computer, make sure you create a separate folder in your C: drive, that way it will not be in your default programs, less to go wrong. The old program (2004) is still an excellent Flight Simulator. While the new X program is a greatly improved Graphic representation, this program provides the highly technical input that adds to the skill of flying. It is the accuracy of the flight envelope & all the systems that support it (navigation, communication, etc.) that make it feel like the real thing. Those who have flown real airplanes know it's not the sightseeing that counts, it the technical aspect of take offs, flying and landing in all conditions - from sunup to sunset, night time and when the weather gets nasty. - Watch those cross winds. Happy simulating and when you can really purchase this program at bargin price - go for it.
