A surprising film regarding a segment of history not well known in western society.
Awesome film regarding a less well known segment of history to western society but no less engaging. The tribal native population of Taiwan really gave the Japanese a hard lesson in colonization. When the native tribal people revolted and rose up against the their Japanese occupiers. Plenty action and drama, with a healthy dose personal honor and adherence to ancestral belief. Good use of a special effects where needed and period costume is used a surprising offering from a Taiwanese production and film industry ( which I did not even know existed ) until now. I can review this movie with one word, SLOW! I bought this because I love war movies and have seen most of the American made ones. Previews looked real good for this movie, but the movie is long and dull with characters you don't really like. Bottom line, skip it.
