Synopsis
Matilda is a genius. Unfortunately, her family treats her like a dolt. Her crooked car-salesman father and loud, bingo-obsessed mother think Matilda's only talent is as a scapegoat for everything that goes wrong in their miserable lives. But it's not long before the sweet and sensitive child decides to fight back. Faced with practical jokes of sheer brilliance, her parents don't stand a chance. Quite possibly the highest quality book shipment I have ever received. Amazon could learn a lot from Dunkin! My book was still wrapped in cellophane. So, a new book just as described and as pictured. Plus it was wrapped in foam and shipped in a fresh, clean box the very next day after I purchased it. Not only did the Dunkin Bookstore offer the book for a great value, but I would consider their customer service excellent as well. Highly recommended seller!

Perfect purchase! This is a wonderful Seller! I received my books ahead of schedule. They were packed in a very sturdy box that fit the books like a glove. When I give a positive, 5 star rating, I look for three things : 1. Did the item arrive on time? 2. Was it packed carefully, to arrive as undamaged as possible? 3. Was the item exactly as described? The books were still wrapped in their shrink wrap and were perfect. You won’t have to worry about this Seller’s reputation. It is spot on!!!

Item arrived well packed and as described at the best price I could find. Shipping got a little screwy; tracking info was provided, cancelled and then provided again a few days later. Package arrived a day past original estimate. Over all a positive experience, would do business with these folks again.

  • Matilda is priceless

This is my favorite of all the Roald Dahl books. Maybe it was because I was left in the same predicament as a child as Matilda, basically having to raise myself. Or maybe it was because I love books and escape in them the way she does. Or maybe it's because she finds someone who has her best interest at heart. Or maybe it's all these reasons, plus the obvious reason, seeing an underdog triumph over adversity.

  • Roald Dahl at His Best

As the 'Smarties Award' selection is based solely on input from children, Dahl was particularly pleased when 'Matilda' won this award for the best children's book of that year. It became a best-seller and there are two movies and a musical based on the book. With Dahl's usual penchant for nasty people and determined young folk, it's lots of fun for intermediate readers.
