I was looking for a small, point and shoot camera that I could carry in my shirt pocket. This camera is even smaller than others I had been looking at, but with a 20meg pixel resolution, I couldn't pass it up! It takes great still photos, movies, and the panorama feature came in handy for my 50th class reunion! We were able to fit in all 120 attendees in one panorama photo! (Had a waiter take 6 of the panorama photos just to be sure.) Four were very good and I had panorama prints made of the best one and sent them to each attendee. This camera is so handy, and easy to use! I have a 16GB SanDisk Ultra Plus card in it and have had well over a thousand of the approx 7MB photos on the card. Movies will be limited to approx 30 min at a time, and the battery usually lasts for 1 hour of recording 2 videos. Smile detection, tracking focus, self timer, and flash settings (auto, on/off, advanced) are great, the screen is crisp and well lit. It fits in a pocket or purse, and the self-closing camera lens guard on power off works very well, too. With all the weddings and retirement ceremonies I attend, this camera has never let me down. I always carry a spare battery and a battery charger with me, but it will also recharge using the unique USB cable that comes with the camera. The cable also makes it very easy to download to a computer your photos and videos taken. All around great camera at a very reasonable price.Read full review

zoom works ok but pictures are not crisp. Had an old 7.1 mp cybershot that was much better quality in photos and easy to use . This new one is just a lack luster shell of what it used to be with a zoom .

I've had several pocket-sized cameras, including Olympus, Lumix, and the Cybershot precursor to this one, but the W830 is, by far, the best. Ultra-light, with bright LCD "viewfinder," fast lens, and 20Mp image size, it's really hard to beat, and I have to lug my much-larger DSLR to get noticeably better pictures than I can with this always-handy little guy. I've not sued them all, but in the under $300 category (or, courtesy eBay, under $100), this is a fantastic deal on a fantastic camera.

The instruction sheet that is included with the camera is POOR at best. However; - If You have used A digital camera before navigating this camera should be no problem. I bought an Extended instruction manual on ebay; This manual is A "Must" if You want to get the most out of Your camera. The Camera itself is A Wonderful Little GEM! It works Very Well; Even for A person like Me who has long digits. One of the reasons I bought this camera is that it has Ziess lenses; and that it has 20.1mp.In My opinion the photos it produces "Great". Even the super close-up shots are "Great". I am Very Happy With this camera! and I call Myself A picky Person. -Also may I add; - Sony Customer Support on the phone were "Outstanding"!
