About this product

Product Information

The D-Link DSL-2740R is an ADSL router that is designed for use in homes and small offices. The D-Link Wireless N Router provides QoS, which will support several priority queues to prevent congestion and allow users to experience smooth connections. With firewall protection on the D-Link DSL-2740R router, users that are connected can surf the Internet with confidence that the connection is secure. The D-Link Wireless N Router has an integrated high-speed ADSL2/2+ interface that can support a connection of 24 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream. The D-Link 4-Port Router also features four 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports that allow for up to four computers to be connected via a wired connection. With the D-Link 4-Port Router, users can avoid having to set up another wireless access point with an Ethernet switch since this router does the job of both. The D-Link DSL-2740R has three antennas and weighs about 921 grams.

Seller was very knowledgeable about his item and also selflessly answered many of my newbie questions. The item was very well packaged and arrived safe, just as described, complete with the correct dura-ace nuts and the often-overlooked plastic spacers. Would definitely buy again from this Seller!

Excellent - as described, arrived on time, beautifully packaged and could still smell the coffee beans, what’s not to like!

The item arrived not working. I accept that the seller did not know of this. For the amount involved it was a disproportionate hassle for me to return, and doing so would've achieved nothing. The seller did say he would send me £10, which I thought was mean, considering this saving he was getting by me not returning it, but he didnt even do that

One of the least peasant eBay experiences I have had. After a few messages trying to address the buyer's issue he replied "I certainly can't be bothered packing it up to return to you". I asked for options and also offered a £10 refund. He said "I am not very bothered about the money" and gave no direction to move forward. Left negative feedback and few days later starts a return claim. Approved and shocked to get a 14kg printer just wrapped in old, broken, flimsy cardboard. Disrespectful!
Follow-up from: y***s- Feedback followed up by buyer.- Feedback followed up by buyer.
I said in my initial feedback that I accepted the seller did not know he had sent a defective item. His subsequent comment, justified in fact, that I did not make much effort to pack it securely when returning it- why on earth should I, he is at best a time waster sending out junk- suggests that he intends reselling it despite knowing it is useless. I invested more than £47 worth of time getting this thing back, but I am glad he did not get away with it.

  • Don't jump to the 2740R - the 2740B is BETTER -

I bought this thinking it would be an up-grade on my D-Link DSL-2740B router. Big MISTAKE. The R version is smaller and is supposed to have a faster processor and the best WiFi performance. However, it seems that D-Link have changed from the Betacom chip which was well matched to ADSL 2+ to the Trend chip which isn't. True, it connects at a higher sync speed with a decent noise margin but then seconds later drops the noise margin by 2 or 3dB. Connecting to the router's browser is tediously slow - and don't try setting the time per the manual;- it does it itself, but in the American format; grrrrrr! I will stick with my 2740B version which does all I require and more. PS. The Wireless performance on the -R version is no great shakes either.

  • Excellent router at a sensible price - brilliant wireless with Imac

After switching to an Imac from a Windows PC, wireless was dropping every day, sometimes several times an hour. I suspected an old Siemens Gigaset SE587 router and after installing this D-Link DSL-2740R the difference was amazing. Not only did wireless connection go 100% solid but broadband speed improved. Wireless signal strength througout the house improved too. As there is no Mac disk available for the D-Link I had to manually install. Absolute doddle - it worked first time. Highly recommended with the new, late 2012 Imac. No dislikes so far.

  • Good value - promised much but difficult to setup (by me -anyway!)

OK... bought this because i had a previous model from D-link which worked flawlessly Has to be my personal view of this model but it promised much but - and i count myself as fairly IT literate - it was a real pain to set up and get working in my home wireless network (Virgin) - when i did get it going (turn everything off... back on.... off..... back on.....ad infinitum) it did work ok Replaced it with a Netgear - turned on - entered encryption password and ..away.... ! roger

  • Works fine with a network switch 7 PC's and a 3 line Voip phone exchange

I bought this to replace the BT 2wire modem router and a netgear adsl modem both of which were commercially unacceptable as they required continual rebooting to remain operational. The D link modem router has functioned perfectly for a month now - it sits in the corner unobtrusively doing its job without attracting any negative attention. With a network switch we have 7 pc's and a VOIP mini telephone exchange connected. No band width issues with all this running and our business is internet reliant. Well done D-link. Can't recommend you highly enough.

  • Big in Power. Performance and Value for money.

I have had six routers and this is the best. To say I am satisfied with it is an under statement. It setup quickly and with ease. All the others I have tried fall down on performance, this has more to give I will recommend this one to any one.
