The Zenith series keeps it up right to the end, but how I wish this hadn’t been in colour! The three previous volumes were all monochrome and this was far superior. The colouring here isn’t especially well done - I’m guessing the artist had his arm twisted by 2000ad - and this has the look of work done or modified unwillingly and without enthusiasm. The writing is still excellent and the story-telling remains undiminished. This material repays rereading and I like the quite deliberately challenging nature of the narrative; It isn’t always apparent what is going on and it is sometimes necessary to work at it, as a reader, in order to decipher what is happening or has happened. It is not all laid out for you.
