Old but still a great game! I play it on the Xbox 360 and it still looks good.

This game has very limited paths that we can take on a battle field. It is not wide open like the Battlefield series of games which I rather prefer. However it definitely has it's merits and the COD series is well worth having. This is not the best COD that I have ever played, but it has some epic battles in it and some really cool scenes. But like COD: it can feel restrictive at times.

First off let me state that I have really enjoyed playing this game for the most part. It has excellent graphics, awesome levels, very intense fire fights and interesting locations to play through. My biggest complaint of this title is the fact that it seems a little too much on the "riding on rails" side. I read reviews and play all kinds of FPS titles, I constantly read things about games being "too linear", well I think for a 2005 title it's pretty much linear. I have been playing FPS games(on consoles) since Goldeneye N64 and I and must say that this game has a lot of areas that look as if you could take a "short cut" or "alternate route" to sneak up on an enemy and then you hit a wall. You just stop in your tracks and have to turn around. I just expected a little more effort from such a praised title. I actually had more fun playing Medal of Honor:European Assult than this game.Read full review
For however unapproachable it may be, Big Red One is still a nicely directed, exciting shooter. And while the basic multiplayer component and a few obvious drops in pacing sometimes make the title feel a touch flat, the singleplayer campaigns are actually anything but. In the future I'd love to see a greater emphasis on the personal interactions of soldiers. But given Call of Duty 2's abundance of such well-designed combat, I can't really complain about the omission of relatable people and genuine emotion, especially considering how many other acclaimed shooters make the same mistakes. Then again, the fact that there are an absurd amount of similarly themed titles available presents a bit of a problem and Call of Duty 2's subject matter might feel dry despite the consistently amazing action. Ultimately it's a game of straightforward shooting, but one directed with such care that it really shouldn't be neglected.Read full review
In the WWII genre, this is a good game. The feel of the game brings you into the war. Unfortunately, as many people who are familiar with this genre already know, there are many areas that need improving. Problems(or room for improvement): -difficulty is created by making the environments excessively dark. I think this is a cop out. -multi-player leaves a lot to be desired. Very glitchy. Jumpy. Opponents do not move smoothly. -many remaining glitches in the game. Try crawling through dead people...it's cool. Some dead people simply float in the air. -sometimes aggravating AI. Your teammates occasionally block your path or obstruct your view right in the middle of a battle. Strengths: -cool cut scenes. Nice ambiance. -great action. Good variety of weapons with realistic feel. -great music and ambient sounds. -controls are simple. This game is worth a rent and probably a purchase, but future iterations of the call of duty series are likely to improve upon these issues.Read full review
I didn't play the first Call of Duty, so I had no comparison going into this game. This is also the first "army" type game I have ever played. I had a good time playing it. It kept me coming back for more. Although relatively short in time, there is a lot of playing to be done within this game. And the history that it portrays makes for interesting background stuff. There's no gore like you see in GTA or other games, which is nice if you prefer none. I enjoyed the game, just wish it lasted longer. I hate to pay so much money for a game that lasts such a short time.
finally a decent call of duty game for the consoles.Being a long time fan of the PC versions i was losing hope of being able to play one of my favorite shooters with my xbox controller. Now this game is getting 4/5 stars for two major reason. The multiplayer although fun was just missing something, couldn't figure it out but i think it hasto do with the bland gametypes, and the singleplayer was fun and had some cool moments but didn't really get me excited. But the multiplayer is fun although after about 2 months i didn't play it much, since i'd rather just play the pc versions, but if all you have is a xbox don't be afraid to pick this up,it's not a bad game, just not everything I exspect...which is alot.
Not a bad buy for the price if you are looking for a few new campaign missions to play until the next Call of Duty comes out. After playing CoD4 and CoDWaW, the graphics, but more importantly, the AI feels extremely outdated. As such, the infantry missions are very easy. The XBox control scheme for which the game is designed is also different from that used in the XBox 360 installments and takes a little getting used to. However, the B-24 mission (for which I bought the game) is one heck of a good time and the rest of the campaign is good enough to keep you entertained until Infinity Ward and Treyarch roll out their next installments. A good buy if you are a CoD collector, someone who loves the aircraft missions in the series, or someone just looking for a cheap game to pass the time.
If you enjoyed the first Call of Duty, you'll like this one as well. If you haven't ever played, this is, in my estimation, the best of the genre of first player shooter games. It is easy to aim, with excellent graphics. It's not as hard as the first one, but is still very challenging and has a myriad of different weapons and scenarios from World War II. You use different weapons, vehicles and airplanes. It has 3 different playing levels and the collector's edition has some very interesting extras and interviews that you can unlock. I highly recommend this game.
THIS IS AN INTENSE SHOOTER THAT WILL HAVE YOU ON ALERT THROUGHOUT THE MISSIONS YOU PLAY THROUGH. LOTS OF WEAPONS ARE NICE TO HAVE. I WOULD RECCOMEND GETTING CALL OF DUTY 2 FOR THE 360 OR PC, BUT IF FOR SOME REASON YOU CAN'T GET IT, GET COD2: BIG RED ONE. THE BAD SIDE IS THAT IT DOES GET A LITTLE REPETITIVE. GO TO GAMESPOT.COM FOR TONS OF REVIEWS. THEY GAVE THIS GAME A 7.0, BUT I THINK IT DESERVES AT LEAST AN 8. GO BUY IT!
