    • Not an easy read.

      It's a book of its time and you can understand why it caused moral outrage. But the style of writing is very descriptive. The characters don't speak for themselves - the author does it for them. When there is dialogue, the grammatical style is confusing and you can't always be sure whose voice you're reading. I shall be glad when I've finished it.
