Consistent noise at 90 decibels your hearing is permanently damaged after 4 hours. Take your kids to the park.

The snag is this: I did not learn until after purchase that I also needed to buy a calibrator (it looks like a tube thing-a-me into which you insert the end of the sound detector and set the readings like you would a pair of electronic kitchen scales). Without this extra devise my sound detector is good as useless. Be warned, all the calibrators I've seen for sale on ebay are very expensive.

Some reviews say you need to buy a separate calibrator, so I emailed the seller before buying and asked if a calibrator is required. He said it is not required. I trusted him. The Calibration instructions say: “Please use 94dB@1KHz standard sound source”. Where TF do I find that? It can never BE calibrated. I will never know if the readings are accurate. Very disappointing. See photo.
