Nicolas Cage stars as Jack Campbell, a career-driven workaholic who has everything: an exciting job, a Ferarri, a closetful of Zegna suits, and the attention of any woman he wants. His life changes when, after working a full day on Christmas Eve, he intervenes in a convenience store holdup. The apparent criminal, Cash (Cheadle), speaks to Jack in epigrams about his satisfaction with life. When Jack wakes up the next day, he's suddenly living in a New Jersey suburb, where he's married to his college sweetheart (Leoni) and is the father of two children. At first he is aghast, but Jack soon warms to his new life even though he knows that it cannot last. Unabashedly sentimental, the film is also a great comedy, as Cage gives a superb performance that makes the most of his character's obvious disgust with his suburban surroundings and even allows for a few moments of hysterics reminiscent of VAMPIRE'S KISS. Filled with great performances (notably Ms. Leoni's role as Jack's wife), inspired comedy, and a premise that suggests a slightly darker version of classics like A CHRISTMAS CAROL and IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, THE FAMILY MAN is an affecting and entertaining holiday film.

    Not Just A Christmas Movie.........

    I’ve read some of the reviews and I’ll just comment on a few others opinions. I agree that I wasn’t totally thrilled with the ending, all they would of had to do is spend a few more more minutes to the ending and rewind to the beginning again when instead of leaving for London he would of made a different decision. The scene that some were complaining about was said to be a “nude” scene. She was in the shower folks, behind the shower door and the scene wasn’t very long. I think it was an appropriate scene, it showed a glimpse of how he felt and how comfortable she was after all those years. Look at their faces. It was about Love folks, not sex. Some of the comments regarding “that one scene” was just absolutely ridiculous.......... The two children in the movie were absolutely adorable and ...

    Sentimental tale of a man on the wrong path to happiness, even with tremendous wealth.

    A man is moved from a penthouse in Manhattan, and a multimillion deal he is brokering, and goes to New Jersey, where he is married to his old girlfriend and has two children that he comes to adore, and his wife as well. He works as a retail tire salesman for his father in law, who had bad health. His old boss from the brokering firm has a flat, and Jack orders a tire for the luxury machine, and arranges to come to the firm to bring the car back. Jack gets a starting job with the firm, but his wife is happy where she is, in the house in New Jersey. When it is time for Jack to "go back" he finds his wife (a non-profit lawyer), is planning to move to Paris, France to take over a large, successful legal firm. He leaves his lucrative job and begs his wife to remember how it was before he ...

    A great movie with a wonderful message

    It is a great movie with a wonderful message about correct priorities. Chasing dollars is not happiness. Family is true happiness. Work to live, not live to work. Look at the millionaires and billionaires today. Do any of them have a happy countenance? To me, they do not. They all have a permanent scowl on their face, like they have seared their conscience and are now past feeling.

    Love this movie The Family Man w Nicholas Cage

    It's always been a favorite. It gives you one of the best perspectives on life and can cause one to think about what's really important in life. Huge fan. Die hard fan. Beautiful scene where he sings to Kate on her birthday. Gets me every time. Great humor as well. This movie should be more popular. I plan on keeping this for my children to watch.
