The Toshiba SD-4990 is a single-disc DVD player with upscaling capability and ability to play back multiple media formats such as DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, Video CDs, CD, CD-R, and CD-RW. MP3, WMA, and JPEG formats are also supported. Up conversion to 720p or 1080i is possible with this Toshiba DVD player due to the installed audio-video convertor. This allows lower grade sources to be enhanced for an improved viewing experience. Toshiba's Digital Cinema Progressive 3/2 Pull down technology improves the output quality of this upscaling DVD player to be free of image or sound deficiencies. Output options for this unit are an HDMI port, component video port, and a digital port. The HDMI port equips the Toshiba SD-4990 with the ability to connect to high-definition sources while the other input allows connectivity to standard-definition devices. This also allows multiple devices to be connected simultaneously. The Parental Lock function in the Toshiba DVD player lets parents select a rating from 0 to 8 which is then protected by a 4-digit password. This prevents children from viewing undesired content. This upscaling DVD player measures 17 inches wide by 1.75 inches high by 8.5 inches deep. A screensaver, photo playback options, zoom, variable speed playback, and resume are other features on this Toshiba DVD player.
