  • Hawk the Slayer 80s Fantasy Movie

Hawk the Slayer for me was a nostalgic ride back to the time when I was 9, 10, 11 & 12 and LOVED the fantasy genre. Somehow in my youth I missed Hawk all together. Had I known about this film I'd have been adamant to see it as a child. I loved the Conan movies, Krull, Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Clash of the Titans, Excalibur, Legend, Willow...anything with magic, swords, heroes, creatures, dark villains and cool landscapes. Needless to say I am a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkein's work. The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films were a dream come true for the adult me who got to be a kid again when those movies hit. Hawk is not the high budget quality of some of these others but it has that fantasy and 80s feel enough that I truly enjoyed it and it bears repeat viewings. It has a hero with a ...

  • Cheesy Eighties Goodness!

I remember seeing this back when I was 12 or 13 years old in the early eighties. Some of my friends and I played Dungeons and Dragons on a regular basis back then, so this was right up our alley. I decide to add this to my DVD collection and I'm glad that I did. I hadn't watched this since I was a kid. It is no masterpiece of course, but just chock full of cheesy eighties goodness. Brings back memories. Really nostalgic. I don't think that young folks these days would appreciate it. Maybe little kids. I dunno. If you remember this from back in the day then get it. You won't regret it. It's definitely worth having. Cheers.
