  • Great prime lens for the price

I use a nikon d5500 the lens works as a manual focus only. All the functions work except the focus. You will need to practice a lot with this lens if you have a crop sensor camera to find the sweet spot with focus. Using live view mode in camera helps to get the focus right at large apertures. I think for the price I can use this lens for taking pictures at f1.8 -3.5 after which I can use the regular kit lens

  • Not bad for the money at all. Sharp and Made for your Nikon by Nikon.

This is a nice lens to have on hand for any Nikon user. It is a genuine Nikon Nikkor product, with all that that includes. Make sure you get one that is clean inside and out, with a well operating shutter and focus, and you'll enjoy having it around for a long time. Be sure to check out the camera lens compatibility sites online if you need autofocus to work, as many of the basic models do not have a focus motor to operate this. You can still use it in manual mode and get great results as many have already said.

  • Love the clean look this lens gives to my photos.

This lens has an amazing f1.8 aperture, works well for portraits and in low light conditions. Love the clean look this lens gives to my photos. The auto focus is slow but since it's not a lens for sport or wildlife photography I don't see that as a deal breaker. Shipped fast and arrived in time by ContinentalPhoto ( 94684 ) excellent seller!

  • Nice Prime

For such an affordable prime lens this little 50 1.7 is a perfect tag along for low light if you have a steady hand and great for close up portraiture. Very sharp stopped down to 1.7 but will require some fine tuning with the manual focus ring most of the time if your too close. At f8 to f11 it's possible to get a nicely blurred background while keeping your subject perfectly focused using just the auto focus.

  • Absolutely wonderful

I've been shopping around for the perfect lens for my close shots. Since I've barely started getting into this whole photography business it was a bit confusing. However this items listing was clear on what it provided and could do. When I got the product I was happy to find that it was exactly what was advertised and worked perfectly with my camera. Fantastic product.

  • Great portrait lens.

You can't beat this lens for quality. It's sgarp, small, and easy. It doesn't have a swm. So it's manual focus. Unless u have a higher end nikon body. But really sharp. Great low light lens.

  • Good

It is a little soft at some apertures but nothing you cannot deal with. It is not said whether this a fx lens or a dx lens is on the box but the lens is a very nice lens if you have a build in focus motor. (if you use auto focus) nice prime. cheapest for the quality.

  • Still Like a Fast Prime Lens on a DSLR

I have two zooms, 18-200 and 18-70 as well as this 50mm lens. I was spoiled by f/1.4 prime lenses on my film cameras, so looked to have a relatively fast prime lens for dimly lit interiors, and this does a very cost effective job. I also like that it is a ~60mm DX lens as it works OK for a portrait lens too. By carrying this and the 18-70, the total is easier to carry than the 18-200 so it is my preference for travel photos.

  • Unmount is not smooth.

Lens is difficult to unscrew to change lenses. There were marks on the lens that appears to have been used previously where lens attached to camera. Almost afraid to force it to get it off. Not sure why so hard to turn. None of my other lenses are that difficult. Hopefully, it won't affect any of the connections. Thank you.

  • Cheap, sharp and cheap looking

Lens is sharp, for that money good value. It is also very cheap looking - looks like a toy basically. It is also loud when focusing. But it get job done fine.
