  • Great Mic!

This is shockingly a fabulous mic. I’m a broadcast journalist suddenly forced to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. I needed a USB mic that was not only studio quality, but compatible with my MacBook, iPhone, and iPad. The Shure MV51 has so far been exceptional. I compared a lot of mics including the Rode NT-USB , NT-USB Mini and the Samson G-Track Pro. The Samson, while a good mic, was not comparable with my iPhone and iPad which was a deal breaker. The Rode product line is fabulous. We use a variety of their microphones for news gathering at my television station and they’re rugged and reliable. In fact, the Rode VideoMic Me-L for the iPhone is my go-to mic for social media field work and voice-over tracking in the car. But at home, I needed something that produced studio quality sound that could shape shift from Zoom and Skype interviews to voice-over tracks and topicals. The Shure MV51 checked all of the boxes. The sound is amazingly rich. In fact, it may be on par with the Sennheiser MD 421-II that we use for voice-over tracks at the studio and I used for years in radio. Additionally, the plug-and-play feature makes it easy to use and the free ShurePlus MOTIV recording app allows me to record and instantly email voice-over tracks to my editors and producers from my iPhone or iPad. It’s seamless. It’s easy. And it is produces great broadcast quality sound. So far, it’s been well worth the investment.

  • You will sound like a radio star in your next zoom

Quality Shure diaphragm and electronics in a solid metal case. Easy to use controls. Throw away your plastic, junky wannabe mics (we've all used them). This mic is dynamite for close recording, Zoom meetings and streaming. Also looks super cool.
