UK pressing of this two CD collection from the Blues legend. This collection lives up to it's title, containing every known recording by Johnson, including alternate takes. Though the 41 tracks in this double disc set were recorded in a span of only eight months (November 1936-June 1937), Johnson left behind a musical legacy that continues to influence and inspire. Features tracks like 'Sweet Home Chicago', 'Love in Vain' and 'Hellhound on My Trail', which are now considered Blues standards. Camden.

    Rock 'n Roll Guitar. It All Started Here

    Anyone who wants to know anything about Rock 'n Roll Guitar history has to start with Robert Johnson. He was the first to go this far, and create a new "style" This is the total collection of all his recordings. He was poisoned at the age of 27, so he even died like a "Rock Star".

    Root of the Blues for Eric Clapton

    I'm guessing the originals were recorded on 78 RPM Shellac records, which were, thankfully good enough for acoustic guitar and voice. This is the purest, most RAW form of the blues you can get and it's good to see where it all started before all the rockers remade these songs with electric guitars and added their own take on them. Very influential work, which I'm sure if Robert were alive today, he would be amazed at what all other Blues Artists did with his songs, especially Crossroads by Cream on Wheels of Fire.

    The cradle of blues and rock-n-roll

    Though the recordings are nearly a century old, I was suprised at the clean sound quality. It's not layered stereo sound, but still of good quality.
