The EnGenius EAP1300 Wireless Indoor Access Point is a high-performance Wi-Fi hotspot modem designed for indoor use. It offers a maximum wireless data rate of 1300 Mbps, with dual-band connectivity and support for MU-MIMO and beamforming technologies for improved performance. The access point features one Ethernet (RJ-45) port and is designed to fit a PC setup. With its sleek white design and EnGenius brand reputation, this access point is ideal for home networking and connectivity needs, providing fast and reliable wireless internet access.
Engenius has a problem with mounting brackets. With this one, it "works", but it is crude and awkward. It is as if the mounting ring should be larger so that it would be captured by the tabs on the access point. As it is, it doesn't reach the tabs that might have otherwise guided the rotation, so it binds up on the mounting screws. It can be done, but it feels broken. How hard can it be to include a decent mounting plate?
Aside from that, the admin interface is arcane, and every change requires a very long time to be applied. It's easy to kill the better part of a day waiting for the thing to reboot, over and over again. The interface looks like they just kept adding stuff to it, willy-nilly. It will be somewhat familiar to Engenius users, but every generation of every device is just enough different to be confusing.
The best thing about it is that Engenius devices tend to work best with other Engenius devices, so for anyone who has already started down the Engenius path, it may make more sense than using a different brand.
The item was as described, arrived relatively quickly (USPS fault) and it is now supporting three wireless security cameras. It does however seem to limit bandwidth to 20 Mb, so not sure if that is by design, or if my setup is causing this.
