    Not for the everyman

    Not for the everyman or even every geek It's super high quality, super high power, unbeatable value, and compleetly useless unless you have a $1000 network controler to plug it into or a $10,000 contract with cisco. Or, if you like a chalenge... its possible to find the software *elsewhere* and make it work, but you'll need a fancy Cisco cable with a converter chip in it, a POE injector, (half the price of an AC adaper and way cooler) an FTP server, and this guide purpleidea com/blog/2018/12/21/a-guide-to-fighting-with-a-cisco-access-point/ Total price ends up being under $50, but thats only if you have the software and the knowhow

    IT savvy required - Use the autonomous firmware

    If you don't have a wireless controller (only required for a multi controller deployment), you'll need the autonomous firmware to run this. This means you'll need to know how to TFTP upload the firmware to the device either directly or designate a TFTP server via DHCP options. The firmware would need to be renamed to ap3g1-k9w7-tar.default.tar on the TFTP server. It wouldn't hurt to have a console cable to watch the output but you should also be able to telnet to the device via its DHCP address. Took me a while to track it down, but basically searched various file sharing sites for the autonomous firmware version (variants of ap3g1-k9w7)... (ended up finding it on Monova). Cisco support is no help. Just keep looking for various firmware versions listed for this model on their site, ...

    Good door stop

    Unit is sold without power supply which costs more than the access point and no user manual. It does make a good door stop, however.
